A Public Affairs Analyst, Adeniran Oyelekan has called for transparency and accountability in the dealings and operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Oyelekan who featured on Crest FM’s Breakfast Programme, Eyi-Ara said that recovered items and funds must be well accounted for by the commission.
Oyelekan’s submission comes amid renewed calls for the reform of the anti-graft agency to reposition it for effective results.
Oyelekan maintained that the EFCC should be strengthened and granted autonomy to avoid political interference in all operations.
He however commended the commission for doing its best to carry out the responsibility for which it was created.
In his words, “it is the right of the commission to arrest offenders but they must follow the rule of law and uphold the rights of citizens in the process”.
