Tinubu to unveil completed projects at UNILORIN convocation

The University of Ilorin has announced that President Bola Tinubu, the institution’s Visitor, will unveil several projects completed by the university’s administration on October 23.

This revelation comes in the lead-up to the combined 37th and 38th convocation ceremonies of the university.

The university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, made this announcement in a statement on Sunday, detailing the upcoming events that will take place during the convocation ceremonies.

According to Akogun, the ceremonies will span three days, starting at the university’s Main Auditorium on Friday and concluding on October 23.

Graduates from both the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions will be awarded their First degrees, Postgraduate degrees, and Diplomas.

The ceremonies will commence on Friday with a Special Jumaat Service, followed by an Inter-denominational Church Service on Sunday. Notably, one of the event’s highlights will be the presentation of a drama titled “Jeong Do-Jeon (The Clash of Power)” at the university’s Performing Arts Theatre.

A key feature of the convocation ceremonies is the Convocation Lecture to be delivered by Nigerian US-based Professor of History, Tayo Falola, on Friday.

Professor Tayo Falola, who teaches at the Department of History, University of Texas at Austin in the United States, will address the audience on the topic “Modernity, Modernisation, and Values.” This lecture will precede the graduation of the 2020/2021 final-year students of both four-year and five-year academic programs.

Saturday will mark Convocation Day II, during which degrees and honors will be conferred upon all the 2021/2022 final-year students enrolled in four-year and five-year academic programs.

The grand finale of the convocation ceremonies, set for October 23, will include the graduation of students from the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 six-year programs, as well as Postgraduate students.

Akogun reassured that the university’s authorities are committed to ensuring the seamless execution of these events, underscoring the significance of this joint convocation for the University of Ilorin.
