The Oyo State Fire Services Agency on Sunday, 25 January 2026, recorded multiple emergency responses across Ibadan and Oyo town, saving lives and properties worth millions of naira.
At Rain Oil Filling Station, Alakia, Adegbayi, Ibadan, operatives of the Molete Zonal Command recovered the body of a 33-year-old man from a deep well following a distress call received at 10:53am. The rescue operation, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen and carried out alongside the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command, revealed that the victim reportedly inhaled ammonia gas while attempting to clean debris inside an abandoned well.
In a separate incident, firefighters from the agency’s headquarters swiftly doused a shop fire at No. 32, Orita-Merin, Ode-Aje, Ibadan, reported at 12:49pm. The fire, caused by an electrical surge, affected one of three prefabricated shops.
No casualty was recorded, and properties valued at millions of naira were saved.
Similarly, the Oyo Zonal Command responded to a house fire at Isale-Agbala, Sanga Area, Oyo, at 11:56am. The fire, which affected one room, was contained before spreading to the rest of the building. Investigations traced the cause to sparks from electrical appliances igniting nearby combustible materials.
