Strike: Double protest for Oyo NLC as labour insist on interface with Makinde

The Nigerian Labour Congress, Oyo State chapter on Wednesday joined it’s counterpart across Nigeria to stage a protest against unfair treatment of workers.

The road leading to Secretariat Agodi Ibadan was blocked with vehicles of the union while music was blaring.

Although Oyo NLC had started their own protest since Monday due to unremitted deductions of their salaries. This National protest therefore makes it a double protest for the state.

Crest FM’s Olúfolájìmí Akinnawo, who monitored the rally maintained that during address to the public and protesters, a lawyer and activist, Femi Aborisade condemned President Bola Tinubu’s recent broadcast, noting that president’s failure of reversal of fuel price to 195 signals readiness to enrich the wealthy the more.

In his reaction, former ASUU Chairman, University of Ibadan chapter, Professor Ademola Aremu charged the present administration to succour the painful atmosphere on the masses as to fully establish the campaigned “Renewed Hope.”

Meanwhile, the Oyo State labour movement led by Comrade Kayode Martins and Olatunbosun Olabiyi insisted unless the state governor, engineer Seyi Makinde accede to the demands of the union, it would continue to ground activities in the government ministries.

The labour groups called on private sectors and traders to join the protest so as for it to be more effective and productive in time.
